Q&A with The Weather Channel’s Stephanie Abrams

For years L.L.Bean has been proud to equip the on-air meteorologists of The Weather Channel with the outerwear and gear they need to stay warm, dry and protected. Throughout the season, we’ll be highlighting these amazing and inspiring individuals so you can learn more about what it takes to do what they do. We previously sat down with Sam Champion and Reynolds Wolf; now we’re excited to bring you our conversation with Stephanie Abrams.

Stephanie reports on heavy flooding in Hoboken, New Jersey

Unafraid to report amidst hurricanes and other devastating storms, Stephanie’s cool demeanor, expertise in the field and friendly personality has made her one of the most trusted faces and voices of The Weather Channel. Her widespread popularity even landed her a cameo as herself in the motion picture Sharknado 2: The Second One.

Q: What’s your favorite piece of L.L.Bean outerwear?

Stephanie: I love the PrimaLoft Packaway Jacket. I bring it with me everywhere. You can wear it when it’s just a little chilly or as a good base layer for when it’s freezing! I also like the fit. It has a good taper to it so it gives you a nice shape.

Stephanie enjoys the snow with fellow meteorologist Mike Bettes.

What’s the worst weather you’ve experienced?

Stephanie: The worst snowstorm I was ever in was Nemo. The worst hurricane I have ever been in was Katrina.

What do you miss most about the weather in your hometown? What don’t you miss?

Stephanie: I was born and raised in Florida, so I miss the heat and humidity the most and that’s also what I don’t miss the most! Ha! I love it, but since I’ve been living in New York City, I’ve been enjoying the seasons.

It may be pouring in Times Square, but Stephanie is warm and dry.

When you’re not on the clock, what are you favorite outdoor hobbies or sports?

Stephanie: I love being outdoors, period. I love tennis, camping, triathlons, going to the beach, listening to music outside, hiking, skiing…anything outdoors…it’s invigorating. Adventure and experiences are what life is all about!
