Hiking the Bold Coast on the Eastern Edge of Maine

Here at L.L.Bean, we want to do everything we can to help you get the most out of the outdoors. Part of that mission is making sure that the outdoors remain vibrant and protected for all of us to enjoy.

The Cutler Bold Coast

L.L.Bean conservation partner Maine Coast Heritage Trust has helped protect dozens of miles of shorefront and numerous hiking trails along Maine’s wild and spectacular Bold Coast.

The Bay of Fundy from the Cutler Bold Coast

The Bold Coast stretches between Cutler and Lubec in eastern Maine, along the Bay of Fundy. It is one of the few virtually untouched stretches of coastline left in Maine.

L.L.Bean employee Eric S. recently visited Hamilton Cove Preserve, where he hiked through barrens teeming with wild blueberries, cobble beaches, birch and fir groves and steep ledges plunging down to the bay. Songbirds filled the marsh grasses and bald eagles fished along the rocky shore.

We’re proud to partner with Maine Coast Heritage Trust and other community partners to preserve these spectacular spaces along the Maine coastline. It’s up to all of us to make sure these places are still there for future generations.

This is one of the most beautiful places in our country. I’ve been there many times and plan to return. You can’t get enough of Maine—especially at The Bold Coast.
