Stand-Up Paddleboarding: Exercise Has Never Been This Much Fun

L.L.Bean Trailblazer Lea Davison on her new stand-up paddleboard.

We gave L.L.Bean Trailblazer Lea Davison a stand-up paddleboard to help her recover from hip surgery last winter – and she wasted no time getting out on the water!

“I’m a land and mountain lover to the core,” she said, “but this has really opened up an entire different world and love.”

We weren’t surprised to learn Lea loved her new paddleboard – paddleboarding is one of the fastest-growing water sports today. It’s easy to learn, keeps you fit and is a very easy  way to get out on the water.

Stand-up paddleboarding is a fun way to get out on the water

Want to get in on the fun but don’t know where to get started? Not to worry – we created this video to help you choose the right paddleboard, whether you’re heading out for the first time or looking for a new challenge.

SUPs come in different lengths and widths for optimum performance, depending on the weight of the paddler. You’ll find all the details about our entire selection of stand-up paddleboards on, and we’re here to help if you have questions.

What’s more, if you’d like to try stand-up paddleboarding before you purchase, our Outdoor Discovery Schools® offer expert instruction at several of our stores. Once you’ve got the basics down, we’ve got exciting programs for you to try out new things on your board, including day tours, races and even yoga.

You don’t need to be a trailblazing athlete to enjoy the discovery and freedom you’ll experience on a stand-up paddleboard. All you need to do is take the plunge – and we’re happy to help you jump in.
