Custom Boots for Kikkan Randall and Her Teammates, Made Right Here in Maine

Last month, we announced our partnership with Kikkan Randall, one of the best, most-decorated cross-country skiers in the world. We wanted to welcome Kikkan with something unique, to let her know how excited we are to work with her. How do you welcome a US cross-country skier to L.L.Bean?

With some custom, Maine-made L.L.Bean Boots, of course!

Kikkan Randall's custom L.L.Bean Boots

That’s right – our expert bootmakers in Brunswick, Maine, rose to the occasion to design and stitch a pair of boots just for Kikkan. These white boots feature her signature K on the side, and we sent them to her with our best wishes for a successful trip to compete in Sochi.

After Kikkan received her boots, we got an unexpected (but welcome) surprise – her fellow teammates liked the boots so much that they had to have pairs of their own! We were more than happy to oblige. We created nine pairs of white L.L.Bean Boots for the members of Kikkan’s team, each with the athlete’s home state emblazoned on the tongue.

Between competitions, the athletes found plenty of time to show off their custom boots as well. For some of the women, like Jessie Diggins, this was their first-ever pair of L.L.Bean Boots.

We were happy to see them enjoying their boots in the snow, and we’re also happy to say that the team’s enthusiasm for these classic Yankee boots is spreading – Swedish skier Charlotte Kalla has already asked if she can get a pair of her own.

While these special boots aren’t for sale, we’re looking forward to working with Kikkan to test and design more great products that will help you enjoy the outdoors. Who knows – you might just end up a world champion yourself!

I love the look of these boots also. I have played Mrs. Santa Clause for the Lions Club in the village park for years and always looking for warm boots that look good with my costume. The K on the side would also work for me . My name is Karen. So if you decided to make these for public or Mrs. clause let me know…Karen
