And that’s just a small sampling of the unique, one-of-a-kind gifts to give (and pick up for yourself) here in our Home Store. Located on our Freeport campus, our Home Store feels just as cozy and rustic as a quintessential Maine cabin. The holidays are our favorite part of the year since we can deck the halls with boughs of balsam, felted ornaments, twinkling lights and more.

We’re more than just a resource for great gifts; you’ll also find fresh inspiration for how to decorate for the holidays. When it’s time to trim the tree, we decorate it with a theme in mind, from our outdoor-inspired tree that’s bedecked with kayak, ski lift and tent ornaments, to our “socks” tree, dressed up with sock monkey and Red Sox ornaments.

The countdown to Christmas is just as fun as the day itself. We love to hang our Advent Calendar with pockets and fill it with treats. Some of our favorites calendar stuffers include chocolate-covered peppermint pretzels, lobster ornaments or mini containers of our favorite Stonewall Kitchen jams.

It’s all about easy touches to give a space a festive feel. Pillows and throws are a simple way to transform a living space. Our Moose Needlepoint Pillow pairs nicely with a red plaid blanket or a red-cabled pillow is a cozy addition with our Wicked Plush Throw. Pillows don’t need to be Christmas specific – though our holiday-themed ones by Kate Nelligan are favorites to display season after season.

Display a few favorite holiday stories as décor on the coffee table and for impromptu readings by the fire. My Wonderful Christmas Tree by Maine author Dahlov Ipcar is one of our favorites.

Think outside the box when setting the holiday table. In our store, we use Chalkboard Tags that serve as place cards during dinner – and can be used later when it’s time to wrap gifts. For a different take on a centerpiece, use our small handcarved wooden trees. Our handblocked Christmas tree napkins and tablecloths are sweet enough to use all season long. Want something less formal? Paper table runners and placemats look chic but are easy to clean up – and okay to color on too!

What are your favorite rooms to decorate during the holidays? Don’t forget to stop by our Home Store in Freeport for holiday decorating inspiration and gifts that are guaranteed to please.

I would have to say my very favorite room to decorate for the holidays is the closet, because no one can see me there, and I can spend all my time alone with your Wicked plush throws and various festive decorations. I never really knew what it was like to celebrate Christmas before I became familiar with LL bean products. They fill me with so much festive joy and wonder and I sincerely feel concerned for anyone not enjoying your products to this extent. I have not only purchased and used your boots and socks ornaments, but hung up my own boots and socks on the tree (of course LL Bean brand), so that I feel that we’re sharing in the same Christmas spirit. Sometimes I feel that Leon Leonwood Bean himself has thrown off his famous patented waterproof boots after a hard day of fishing, and hung them up on the Christmas tree. I really feel like LL Bean is a family, and that I am part of that family by buying your products and decorating my house with them. Thank you so much for your wholesome American values and products. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving.

I was just looking over your latest catalog that showed up in my mail box. Told my wife about the $24.95 snowball maker and the $29.95 snowman family kit. Her response was “humans deserve to become extinct.”

Can you think of any other products which might further destroy childhood imagination?

    Merry Christmas

Hi Mark – Thanks for sharing your comments. We disagree that the snowball maker and snowman family kit destroy childhood imagination. Our goal at L.L.Bean is to encourage kids of all ages to get outside and enjoy our natural surroundings. L.L.Bean “snow toys” only help to enhance the fun and creativity! These products are extremely popular with our customers and the reason we continue to offer them year after year. And…we truly enjoy the hundreds of photos our customers share with us of their families playing outside with our products. Best, ^Laurie Brooks, L.L.Bean Public Relations.
