Made in Maine, Built for the Long Haul

Designed when ice came in big chunks and money didn’t.

Long before ice cubes tumbled from a freezer door, block ice was cut from local lakes to keep ice chests cold. The trick was transporting the ice home without it melting all over the car. Bean’s Ice Carrier – now known as the Boat and Tote Bag – solved the problem with heavy-canvas construction, double-stitched seams and a double-layered base to hold meltwater in its place.

“24 years of flawless service.”
–L.L.Bean customer, Wabash, IN

Nowadays, this five-star favorite is built to carry everything you need. When you buy a tote bag from L.L.Bean, we want you to be satisfied for decades. That’s a tall order but it’s the reason we build products like our Boat and Tote to be so rugged. In fact, our customers have sent letters and reviews praising its toughness for 70 years (and counting).

“Wish I could give it 50 stars.”
—L.L.Bean customer, Brandon, MS

It’s not just the materials that make our Boat and Totes so long lasting – it’s also the attention to detail that goes into each and every one. Our team of stitchers build these bags right here in Brunswick, Maine. These hardworking perfectionists focus on every single stitch to make sure each bag can honor our promise of satisfaction.

Saw the croquet bag and instantly thought: “Why can’t I get one of those for my (and my husband’s) snowshoes?” Dimensions probably need adjustment, but I should think that would be a great LL Bean product addition. Great for storage and travel…

Hi Bean Queen – Thanks for sharing your comments. Those croquet totes are amazing. Not sure they will fit snowshoes, but you can always give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion. Best, ^LB
