A Special Gift for the Boston Red Sox

Congratulations 2013 World Champions: Boston Red Sox!

Here in New England, we aren’t just fans of the Red Sox – “fans” isn’t a strong enough word. Like cold winters and sea air, a love of the Sox is just part of our DNA (and not just because we’re partners with Fenway Park). Since our company was founded in 1912 – the same year that Fenway Park was built – we’ve been red-socks-sporting and rally-cap-wearing members of Red Sox Nation.

FANS isn't a strong enough word

Every Sox game is exciting, but we found ourselves especially wrapped up in this season’s championship run. After more than a century of ups, downs and Fenway memories, we felt we had to do something to commemorate such a spectacular season. Something to say “Congratulations” and “Thanks” all at the same time, from one New England institution to another.

So we came up with something that we can give the Sox that nobody else can, something uniquely L.L.Bean and uniquely New England. L.L.Bean Boots – but not just any L.L.Bean Boots.

A one-of-a-kind boot for a one-of-a-kind season

These extremely limited-edition 2013 World Champion Boots were designed and sized specifically for the Red Sox team and staff by our expert boot-builders in Brunswick, Maine. Each pair features a special commemorative logo and will never be sold. It’s our way of saying “Thanks” for all the Fenway memories to each and every member of the team.

CONGRATULATIONS, SOX! SEE YOU IN BOSTON SOON!

Congratulations on your World Series Win and a great season!!! And congratulations to Boston. Your town SO deserves this victory after such a tumultuous year. Years ago, my Dad was a huge Red Sox fan. While I miss watching the games with him, somehow I know that he is still right there with me, carrying on our tradition!

  2. Todd | October 30, 2013 | 11:55 pm

Very cool! Wish they were going to be sold! Congrats to the sox for an amazing season.

  9. Ingrid | October 31, 2013 | 6:29 am

Cool! But I wish you had made something special for the fans, too. I was all excited because I misunderstood at first, and my nephew, who grew up on Cape Cod, loves that classic style Bean boot and LOVES the Sox, and I was determined to buy him those boots no matter how much they cost. Any chance of a special Bean item for the fans? How about one of your mini-boot keychains with the red boot?

  10. Sue Starrett | October 31, 2013 | 6:51 am

What a wonderful idea! You’ve hit this one outta the park.

  11. Trisha | October 31, 2013 | 6:56 am

After staying up to watch the entire game and to see our beloved RedSox win the World Series, it feels so good and wholesome to come into work this morning (right here at L.L.Bean) and see that the company that I work for felt so compelled to support fellow Great corporation in the New England region. A continuance of a truly special moment in time. I’m proud to work for a company that shows such outward support. Go, L.L.Bean and GO RED SOX!!!!!

Kristine has a great suggestion! I’ll buy a raffle ticket or two or three…

  98. Julie | November 2, 2013 | 7:27 am

I think there is a great opportunity to do some good for the community. I suggest you raffle 100 or more boots off to the highest bidders and then make a contribution to the One Fund Boston, the Jimmy Fund or the Red Sox Foundation. We are all very proud of the Red Sox and we delight in the 2013 season which has lifted up many who have been victims of the Marathon bombings. This gesture could only add to the “feel good” season!

  99. GoSox | November 2, 2013 | 9:27 am

Please start selling these boots for the fans too! All profits should go to the Boston One Fund! It’s a great gesture to the team but make them available to all of New England to show their pride for the team, city, and region! Thanks!
