We kicked off the holiday season with our annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration at our Freeport, Maine, campus. Over 2,000 fans stopped by to enjoy one of the largest Christmas trees in Maine, covered in thousands of twinkling LED lights and all choreographed to live big band music by The Fogcutters.
TV hosts Kathleen Shannon and Rob Caldwell of Portland, Maine’s local NBC affiliate served as hosts and masters of ceremony, leading the crowd in a countdown before six-year-old Ella B. flipped the switch with L.L. Bear by her side.
The kids were bundled up for the evening’s entertainment, which included juggling acts, crooked houses, hot chocolate, music and merriment.

L.L.Bean also hosted a winter coat drive, collecting over 750 coats for seniors. We also provided a matching donation of $5 for each coat received to support the Maine Association of Area Agencies on Aging – resulting in $3,775 to supplement the agency’s winter emergency services fund.
The entire L.L.Bean campus is decked out for the holidays.
Stop by the L.L.Bean Freeport campus now through December 31 to see the displays and the nightly Christmas tree music and light show. We have free events and activities for the entire family including horse-drawn wagon rides, fun holiday photo opportunities, book signings, free gift wrapping, caroling, live presentations of “A Christmas Carol,” sled dogs and much more. Please see the complete Northern Lights schedule of events.
