Just over a month ago, we kicked off our 100th anniversary celebration with the introduction of the Million Moment Mission – L.L.Bean’s endeavor to collect one million outdoor moments in celebration of a century of outdoor adventures. What will we do with all of these moments? For every outdoor moment shared with L.L.Bean in 2012, we’ll donate $1 to the National Parks Foundation, up to $1 million.
In just over one month, your support and enthusiasm has helped us to gather more than 122,000 moments. That’s $122,000 towards the National Park Foundation’s youth programs, bringing us more than 10% of the way to our goal!
Here are a few highlights from the first month of our mission:
On Twitter, over 17,000 moments have been shared – that’s $17,000 donated to preserving the outdoors for future generations. Here are a few of the tweets that have made a difference:
Favorite L.L.Bean Fact #1 – L.L. was a middle age man of 40 when he developed the Maine Hunting Shoe! Life does get better at 40! #llbean

But that’s not all.
Did you know that every time you view a video on L.L.Bean’s YouTube channel, a dollar is added to our Million Moment Mission? With the launch of the Making of the L.L.Bean Bootmobile video, it’s no surprise that our fans on YouTube have contributed more than $65,000 to the National Park Foundation.
And we’re just getting started.
With ten more months to go, we can’t wait to share more of our favorite outdoor moments with you.
How else can you support our Million Moment Mission? Check in to our retail stores on Facebook or Foursquare, comment on our blog, circle L.L.Bean on Google+ or participate in one of our Outdoor Discovery Schools programs. Every single moment counts towards our mission.
Thank you for helping us launch this program. We’re looking forward to a great year in the outdoors.
